Supreme Court stays injunction against White House East Wing construction in National Park Service v. National Trust for Historic Preservation
On August 31, 2026, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a per curiam opinion granting the federal government's application for a stay of a preliminary injunction that had halted above-ground construction of a new White House East Wing. The Court found the government likely to succeed on the merits, principally on the ground that the plaintiff organization had not established Article III standing.
